Mockup from Graphic Burger
The core objective of the Event Schedule Poster was to manipulate provided text in a way that established a clear systematic organization and hierarchy. If done correctly, the viewer would be able to digest event information with ease. To achieve this intention, I stuck to a modular grid for as long as the overall composition allowed. The hierarchy of small components, such as those contained within each event, was fine-tuned well before the overall layout was even approached. A sans-serif typeface (Proxima Nova) and a slab-serif typeface (Museo Slab) were paired for maximum legibility. Events were organized by date range due to the importance that scheduling has in our modern society. To increase the cohesion of the poster elements, an analogous, 70s-Esque, fall-themed color palette was chosen that referenced both the time of year and Golden Gate Park’s nostalgic prime. A graphic element was created at the bottom to promote visual interest, reinforce the color palette, and make the poster feel more dynamic.
